Jenny Hval’s experimental yet visceral new album, Blood Bitch, is streaming today on NPR. It’s not an overly long listen—just ten tracks—but its ghostly whispers, gasps, and expressive musings tap into something that feels awfully close to the subconscious.
“It’s about vampires,” Hval says of Blood Bitch on “The Great Undressing.” Then she adds, “Well, it’s about more things than that.” The album continues Hval’s work with producer and noise musician Lasse Marhaug, and the result is an uncommonly fascinating and personality-driven piece of art anti-pop.
Blood Bitch is officially out September 30 from Sacred Bones. Listen below via NPR, and revisit Anabelmusic’s recent interview with Hval.
